Rio 2016 Olympic Games: Rafaela Silva Wins First Gold for Brazil in 57Kg Judo Finals

On 8th of August 2016, Monday the 24 year old Judoka Rafaela Silva has won the first Olympic gold medal for the host nations Brazil at the Rio Olympic Games by beating up Sumiya Dorjsuren of Mongolia in the Judo final 57Kg event. She has scored Waza-ari over the Dorjsuren with a throw slightly over a minute in the finals and she was able to continue that lead among loud cheering from the people.

Silva and Her Parents are Excited for Winning Olympic Gold for the Country

The judoka Rafaela of the Brazil has not qualified in the previous rounds at the 2012 London Olympics. As per the referees, it is decided that Silva who has won the match applied for a blow which is no longer allowed as per the new ruled of the judo. Rafaela who had born in the city Rio de Janeiro, she had a strong support from the fans in the Arena 2 of Carioca and particularly her family who is there to support her. Silva who won the first gold for the country has shared all her feelings up on winning along with her family members. Her parents were very excited upon her winning.

The silver medal of the Dorjsuren has been the first Olympic medal for the women of Mongolia whereas, the champion of the London 2012 Olympics Kaori Matsumoto contented herself with a bronze medal in Rio after losing in the semi-finals to Dorjsuren and the other bronze medal was claimed by the Telma Monteiro.
