On Tuesday, Jason Day has been moved out of the Rio 2016 Olympics because of the Zika virus that costs the golf its number one player after its return to Olympic Games after a century. The sport golf has already lost two of the major stars in the previous week which adds to the observation that the Olympics were not a priority for them. A four times big champion, Rory McIlroy, has told that the Zika Virus would be keeping them away from competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics.

List of Golfers Withdrawn from Rio 2016

Ireland’s Shane Lowry is the other champion who has withdrawn from the Rio 2016 on Tuesday, as he recently got married in the month of April and that he had plan for starting his family. Along with these champions, there were many other golfers who were not going to take part in the Olympics due to the Zika virus and they had their own reasons for that. As per the latest update from the official sources, it is known that six golfers along with two of the most famous athletes and McIlroy were not happening in Rio. The names of the other golfers include the Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel of South Africa, and Australia’s Marc Leishman. Already the sport Golf has lost 3 among the top 10 players in the world. Among the Scott was the first to have withdrawn.

With this we hope that, the century after comeback Olympic game Golf is not going to be more exiting this time as major top players have already withdrawn from the game. Let us wait and see how many golfers will finally remain and what would happen finally in Rio. Stay tuned for the updates.
