France, Serbia and Croatia Books Their Basketball Berths at Rio 2016

On Sunday i.e., on 10th of July 2016, the basketball star Tony Parker of French has directed ‘Les Bleus’ for the Rio 2016 qualifying place with a maestro performance. In the final qualifying Olympic match, France has defeated the Canada team 83-74 in Manila with Tony Parker getting 26 points in the tournament. Along with the France the other teams that are joining them in Rio are Serbia and Croatia who have won in the qualifying matches that were help in Belgrade and Turin respectively.

In addition to the Tony Parker other basketball stars of Serbia Bogdan Bogdanovic and Milos Teodosic; Boris Diaw and Nicolas Batum of French and Criatia’s Dario Saric are all now ready for participating in Summer Olympics 2016 basketball event.

Men’s Basketball Schedule Finalized for Rio 2016


After the basketball tournaments help in Manila, the group stage draw for the Rio 2016 has been completed. In Group A, Serbia and France will be joining the Venezuela, China, USA and Australia whereas in Group B, Croatia will join up with Spain, Argentina, Lithuania, Brazil and Nigeria.

As per the official sources, it is known that the group phases will be playing their tournaments in a round-robin format i.e., every team will play with the other five in the entire group with the top 4 in every group will be proceeded to knock-out phase which will be having quarter finals, semi-finals, gold medal games and bronze medal games.

Group and Group B Basketball Matches for Summer Olympics

The basketball venue for Rio Olympics 2016 is Corioca Arena 1 which is located in Barra Olympic park. It is said that, the entire basket ball competitions will be running from starting of the Olympics i.e., after the opening ceremony and will continue till 21st August 2016 on the last day by deciding the men’s podium.
