Russian President Vladimir Putin to not Attend Rio Olympics 2016 Opening ceremony
As per the latest update regarding Rio opening ceremony, Kermlin on Monday said that the president of the Russia will not be attending the Rio Olympic Games opening ceremony at Rio de Janeiro on 5th August 2016 though the IOC has not dismissed or banned the participation of the nations contingent at Rio games.
The spokesperson of the Kermlin – Dmitry Peskov has said to the Russian media that, as he understands it, there were no plans for such trip to Rio as Putin has other work schedule. The spokesman didn’t rule that Putin would be travelling to Brazil at the time of Games for encouraging the athletes of the Russia after the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) decided for excluding some athletes.
Before the IOC’s decision, the leader of the Russia has ordered for the formation of an independent committee for combating over doping in the country with the committee that will be lead by the IOC’s oldest member and Vitali Smirnov. Peskov felt sad regarding the banning of the sports officials of Russia from attending the sports over the allegations of doping by IOC at 2014 Sochi winter Olympics and 2013’s World athletics championships that was held in Moscow.

Recently, the suspended president of the Brazil Dilma Rousseff has declared via an aide that she is not going to attend the opening torch ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
