As per the recent Rio Olympics update, the Thiago Braz da Silva of the Brazil has made huge upset on 15th of August 2016, Monday night by defeating the world no.1 and defending champ Renaud Lavillenie who belongs to France for winning the final pole vault. It has been the second gold medal for the host nation in the Olympic Games, it’s the first male athletics champion in 32 years and it’s first in the track and field. Thiago Braz has forgotten the past 3 failures and passed on with 5.98m pushing the man of French to 6.03m which he has failed to clear it two times. The final jump made by the Brazilian saw him clear the mark for establishing the new Olympic record beating the mark that has been set by the Lavillenie in London 2012 Olympics four years back. The crowd of the Brazil who have been quite past in the night have quickly rallied to their countryman cheering him up and upsetting Lavillenie who have made himself for the final jump. Lavillenie have settled with the silver medal with 5.98m and Sam Kendricks of the USA taking bronze with 5.85m.
This has been the 3rd success for the Ukranian coach Vitaly Petrov of the Braz who have trained the gold medal winner Sergey Bubka of the year 1988 and the Yelena Isinbayeva of the Russia who has been the gold medal winner in 2008 Beijing Olympics.
