The 112 years return of the golf game for Olympics have finally got its list of golfers published to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with the World governing body of the sports. The body has highlighted huge number of countries who have earned places.
According to the list published golf qualifiers from the 40 nations have appeared in the qualification places and among them 60 are men and 60 women representing each and every continent. The IGF (International Golf Federation) has told that, this has reflected the Olympic effect which can even be seen in increase in the national federation number under its shade in which the number has grown from 100 to 147.
Golfers Road to Summer Olympics 2016
The qualification for the golf to Rio has been started on 14th of July 2014 and it had finally concluded on 10th July 2016. The rankings that are seen finally confirm the eligible athletes to be entered by their respective NOCs (National Olympic Committees) as per the criteria of the qualification. The final list of entries is said to be published by the IGF on 18th of July 2016 and we have to wait till them to check out the complete list.
The highlights of the men’s list are said to be the pair of USA named Rickie Fowler and Budda Watson who are ranked 7th and 5th in the world respectively. The men’s golf tournaments are known to be started on 11th of August 2016 and will last till 14th of August 2016.
The list of women’s had the top 9 players ranked in the world with Prodigy Lydia Ko of Newzeland would be the star attraction in the tournament. After completion of the men’s tournaments, the women’s tournaments will take place from 17th August to 20th of August 2016 i.e., one day before the closing ceremony.
