Olympic Games 2016: International Golf Federation Confirms 120 Golfers for Rio

According to the latest update that we received from the official sources, it is known that International Golf Federation (IGF) has confirmed the list of 120 golf players which includes both men and women for the sport that has returned to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which happens in the next month i.e., in the month of August 2016.

Among the players listed for Golf, the latest major winners Danny Willet and Henrik Stenson were the athletes who will represent their nation at this first tournament of the Olympic golf in 112 years i.e., when the tournaments are staged on the latest Golf Course of the Olympics. The men’s golf tournaments will take place in between 11th to 14th August 2016 whereas, for women the tournaments are held in between 17th to 20th of August 2016.

Highlights of Rio Olympic Golf Tournaments

When it comes to the won men’s golf tournaments, the highlights include the PGA Championship winner Brooke Henderson and the world’s number one Lydia Ko will be flying the Canada flag. Stenson will be representing the country Sweden as the Number 2 ranked athlete after the Budda Watson. Followed by Willett and his team-mate Justin Rose of the Great Britain, Rickie Fowler of the USA will enter as the number 3 player.

With a total of 41 nations representing all 5 continents in the champions list of both men’s and women’s tournaments, the first Golf event highlights the global popularity of the sports and what International Golf Federation has called Olympic effect.
