Rio 2016 Games: Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens Team of Australia Revealed

Recently, Australia has named their men’s and women’s squad of the Rugby Sevens for the Rio 2016 Games with candidates of both teams seems to be very strong. It is said that, the Capitan’s of the women’s squad will be Shannon Parry and Sharni Williams and they will be competing at the Rio de Janeiro as the favorites of the gold medals with the courtesy of winning at the previous world series this year. The women’s rugby sevens line-up of the Australia include the stars, world sevens player of the year 2014 Emilee Cherry and Ellia Green.

Williams in a statement has told that, their goal is to go for the Rio and win gold medals their and it is something that they speak of everyday. She also added that the winning at the World Series have given them the confidence of achieving their goal.

Australia’s Rugby Sevens Women’s Squad

The complete Women’s squad selected for Rugby Sevens from Australia includes the Sharni Williams (c), Shannon Parry (c), Gemma Etheridge, Nicole Beck, Emma Tonegato, Charlotte Caslick, Evania Pelite, Chloe Dalton, Alicia Quirk, Amy Turner, Emilee Cherry and Ellia Green.

Australia’s Rugby Sevens Men’s Squad

When it comes to the men’s squad, it is the Veteran Ed Jenkins who has been placed at the 4th place in the World Series will be the Capitan of the team. Back to Cameron Clark the teen sensation Henry Hutchison who has won the 2015/16 season of the World Series recruit of the year, has been included in the team. The Rugby Sevens is making its debut in the Rio Olympics though this game has in past appeared in the form of 15-a-side format.

The men’s squad of the Rugby Sevens from Australia are, Ed Jenkins (c), Jesse Parahi, Con Foley, Tom Cusack, Pat McCutcheon, Nick Malouf, James Stannard, John Porch, Lewis Holland, Cameron Clark, Henry Hutchison and Allan Fa'alav'au.
