Samsung on Thursday has announced that it has signed a deal with the NBC Olympics for providing the virtual reality (VR) games, events and all the content of the Rio 2016 Olympics to the Gear VR product owners from 8th August 2016 to 22nd August 2016 i.e., till the one day after the completion of the games.
All the people having the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, or and a Gear VR headset then t hey will be able to strap it to their head and watch all the Rio 2016 games. It is said that, the viewers can watch a total of 85 hours of the Rio content along with the opening and closing ceremony which makes you feel like you were there at the event.
NBC Olympics to Provide VR Coverage of Sports Events
Samsung also added that, NBC Olympics will also be providing the VR Coverage of the Men’s gymnastics, basketball, track and field, diving, beach volleyball, fencing and boxing, events, along with semifinal and finals events coverage. However, you will not be able to watch the live but with slight delay. In order to see all these, the users have to just open the NBC Sports app and then they need to attach it to the Gear VR. By the way, the thing here is that NBC requires a cable subscription. So, you have to log-in for verifying that were paying for that events of the contents of the Olympics.
Rio 2016 content will be available in the service one day after the Rio 2016 Olympic events starts i.e., on 6th of August 2016.
