Australia Bans Two Swimmers from Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony and Placed Curfew on Team

As per the recent Rio Olympic news, the Australian Olympic Committee have banned the swimmers Emma McKeon and Josh Palmer from the closing ceremony of Rio Games after they have failed in returning to the Olympic village Rio along with their teammates after they completed their outing at the Copacabana nightclub on the Tuesday night. You can also check Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony details here.

The chief of the AOC - Kitty Chiller also announced in a statement that, all the swimmers have been put on 2 AM curfew through the closing ceremony that will happen on Sunday. Chiller also added that, the behavior of the McKeon and Palmer were unacceptable and that they have breached the protocols of discipline. Also she added that, she have raised the need for the team leader of the swimming to make sure that he is aware of the whereabouts of the athletes when leaving the Olympic village.

AOC Statement on McKeon and Palmer

According to the statement that is released by the AOC, it is known that Palmer has continued drinking with a friend. When his friend has left, he has been forced by a person to withdraw $1000 from the ATM. When Palmer was found by the 2 Copa businessmen he was described as disoriented. After that, he has been taken to the Consulate of Australia and later he has been retrieved by the official of the AOC. When comes to the McKeon, she has violated the team rules by not having informed regarding her whereabouts as per the statement.

McKeon and Palmer have been ordered for staying in the Olympic village between the 8 PM to 8 AM as per the local time and they are not allowed for travelling in between the sporting events by the official Rio Olympic Games transportation.
